Photographing Birds in Their Environment

May 9 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
$25.00

3:00pm-4:30pm: Presentation, Q & A and breaking into small groups.
4:30pm-6pm: Groups photographing in the Marsh.

Please join PhotoMidwest instructors Cynthia Carlson and Ralph Russo for an introductory bird photography class at the Horicon Marsh Visitor Center beginning at 3:00pm on Saturday, May 9.  Advance registration is strongly encouraged because the class is limited to 20 photographers. Cost is $25.

This introductory bird photography workshop is designed for enthusiasts who want to move beyond basic snapshots and master the art of capturing avian life.  The session begins with a classroom presentation focused on essential camera settings, lighting situations, image composition, basic post processing and the critical role of bird behavior in achieving successful shots. Participants then transition to a guided field experience to practice these techniques in Horicon’s natural environment. The workshop emphasizes a practical approach with a reduced focus on technical jargon, making it ideal for those using functional cameras with a focal length of at least 200mm who are eager to improve their timing, lighting, and ethical field practices.

Volunteers who are familiar with the major camera brands will be on hand to help you with your settings.  If you have questions about the adequacy of your camera equipment for this class, please email your concerns to Camera@PhotoMidwest.org before you register for this class.

Registration with payment required.
