Birding by Bike

May 11 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

Bigby (Big, green, bird year). Green birding is birding done without the use of fossil fuels and/or the internal combustion engine. Green birders are self-propelled birders, e.g., walking, riding a bicycle, paddling a canoe or kayak, or using skis or snowshoes.

Join Dodge County’s Breeding Bird Atlas Coordinator, Matt Herzmann for a bike ride of about 10 leisurely miles around the Horicon National Wildlife Refuge Auto Tour and portions of the Wild Goose Trail. Bring your bike, biking stuff, (helmet, gloves, water bottles, etc.) and binoculars. Matt will cover basic rules of the road, then set off on a ride to several spots around the refuge.

We’ll start at 8 AM and end about noon. Meet at the main parking lot of the Horicon National Wildlife Refuge Auto Tour. If using Google Maps, use the “Redhead Hiking Trail Trailhead” location. GPS coordinates of

43.623050022890894, -88.64526567891062

No charge for this program but donations to the Horicon Marsh Bird Festival fund are greatly appreciated. Pre-registration required, 15 spots available.
