SUMMARY:Birding Costa Rica
DESCRIPTION:Join the Horicon Marsh Bird Club for our upcoming meeting on September 17 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitors Center\, N7725 WI-28\, Horicon\, WI 53032. This month’s program will take us on a journey to the tropical forests and wetlands of Costa Rica\, as Jeff and Suzanne Bahls share highlights from their March 2026 adventure. They traveled with the Wisconsin Natural Resources Foundation and Holbrook Travel on the Rhythms of Nature tour.\n\nTheir itinerary included Tortuguero\, located along Costa Rica’s northern Caribbean coast; Sarapiquí\, a lush lowland region in north-central Costa Rica; La Fortuna Waterfall; and Arenal Volcano National Park. Each destination offered its own unique habitats and opportunities to experience Costa Rica’s incredible diversity of birds and wildlife.\n\nDuring the trip\, Jeff and Suzanne recorded an impressive 127 species of birds\, along with 12 sloths\, including both two-toed and three-toed sloths. They also encountered several other mammals\, including three species of bats.\nCome join us as Jeff and Suzanne share their photographs\, stories\, and favorite memories from this unforgettable adventure. Whether you’ve dreamed of visiting Costa Rica or simply enjoy seeing birds and wildlife from around the world\, this promises to be an entertaining and informative evening!  We hope to see you there!\n\nIf you are unable to join us in person\, you can watch the meeting on zoom. SUMMARY:Birding Mayville’s Ziegler Park: Saturday\, September 19\, 8-10am
DESCRIPTION:Since “discovering” this 70-acre gem\, it has been a superstar birding location (174\nspecies e-Birded here).  Ziegler Park has 72.3 acres of parkland; most of which is\nmature wooded forest along the east branch of the Rock River with a 1.5-mile nature\ntrail. This Mayville City Park is a great spot for many birds but particularly warblers in\nthe spring.
