SUMMARY:October Meeting: Belugas\, Bears and Birds from Churchill Manitoba
DESCRIPTION:Join us on October 16th at 6:30 PM at the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center. \nJeff and Suzanne Bahls will share their adventure from August of 2023 to Churchill Manitoba\, the polar bear capital of the world.   They paddled with Beluga whales\, toured Hudson Bay in a tundra buggy \, saw Polar bears and some sub-arctic birds as well. \nAn amazing combination\, of wildlife\, scenery\, native culture and small town feel\, this trip was a great learning adventure! \nJeff is the president of the Horicon Marsh Bird Club and loves new experiences with birds.  Suzanne is a Master Naturalist with over \n280 hours of volunteer service. They also enjoy paddling and bicycling after birds of course. \n  \n  \n \nArctic terns harassing a Polar bear\n

SUMMARY:Evening Marsh/Crane Watch
DESCRIPTION:This event is not impacted by the federal shutdown. \nSaturday\, October 11 from 5:00-6:30pm. \nJoin educators an hour before sunset at 5:00pm for an informative talk on the birds you see flying overhead. \nThe location of this event will be the picnic shelter at the Palmatory Street Overlook.  Address is 1210 North Palmatory Street\, Horicon\, WI. \nSandhill cranes\, Canada geese\, great egrets and a variety of ducks are just a few of the amazing migrants that will be flying into the marsh to roost at sunset. \nMembers of the Horicon Marsh Bird Club will also be on hand to answer all your bird migration questions! \nAll programs are free and open to the public. Bring a chair and binoculars if you have them as we enjoy a fall evening at the marsh! \nNo registration required. SUMMARY:September Meeting:  Eiders
DESCRIPTION:Join The Horicon Marsh Bird Club on Thursday\, September 18th\, 2025 at 6:30pm at the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center for a program featuring Blake Richard of the United States Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS). The meeting is open to the public and is held at the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center located at N7725 Highway 28\, Horicon\, WI. \nMr. Richard will present his experiences as a project volunteer with USFWS in Utqiagvik\, Alaska. His professional work has focused on the conservation of endangered Steller’s and Spectacled Eider ducks\, while his time in Alaska provided unique opportunities for observing rare birds\, encountering polar bears under the midnight sun\, experiencing snowfall in July\, and participating in local cultural events such as nalukataq. The Inupiaq name for Steller’s Eider\, Igniqauqtuq\, means “the bird who sat in fire.” \nOriginating from Wisconsin and raised near the Ruffed Grouse Capital\, Mr. Richard developed a strong connection to wildlife from a young age. Summers spent on the Rock River and autumns hunting in Spooner\, WI played an influential role in his appreciation for natural resources. Before joining the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife\, he attended Northland College and gained valuable experience working in Alaska with Ducks Unlimited\, the Alaska Department of Fish & Game\, and USFWS. His passion for avian species\, particularly waterfowl\, and dedication to conservation continue to grow\, complemented by interests in photography and writing.\nThis meeting will be available in person and on Zoom. DESCRIPTION:Join us Saturday July 12th at 8 AM Dodge county Ledge park for a bird hike. We will meet at the Shower/Restroom building and walk from there. \nLedge park has recorded 167 bird species within its 83 acres. Making it one of the areas birdiest spots.  Members of the Horicon Marsh Bird Club will lead the hike. Any and all folks are welcome to join us\, no experience necessary.
