Located on the edge of the Horicon Marsh State Wildlife Area, Northern Road cuts through hardwood forest, native grassland and ends at the Redhead Impoundment. We will walk along the gravel road seeking woodland birds and a short walk out into the grasslands in search of bobolinks and Henslows Sparrows. Along the way we will follow the meander of the Rock River in search of waterfowl, riparian songbirds, and a possible shorebird.
After Northern Road, we will carpool over the hill to Dike Road and bird along the entrance to Dike Road. Grassland birds such as bobolink and clay-colored sparrows can be found here. From there, we will bird along the road looking for warblers and other marsh birds.
Registration with payment required.
